Creel Cottage is an idyllic holiday home in an equally idyllic setting above the harbour in the picturesque fishing village of St Abbs on Scotland's South East coast, just 4 miles from the main A1 trunk road. Coldingham (Photograph above) (pub, shop, garage) is only 1.5 miles away, and Edinburgh is within an hour's drive - or go by train from nearby historic Berwick (12 miles, all facilities). The cottage is also ideally situated for exploring the many delights of the Borderland and the Northumbrian coast.

Creel Cottage sign Once a fisherman's cottage, Creel is full of character and comfortably appointed, with a well-fitted kitchen, luxurious bathroom and further bathroom upstairs, while the spacious open-plan lounge/dining room/ kitchen area has a large picture window offering spectacular harbour views. Outside there is a garage and further parking space just a few yards away, and the secure, enclosed garden has a play area and patio. Residents also have the use of a well-equipped beach hut on the lovely sands at Coldingham (10 mins walk).

Set in glorious scenery in a National Trust nature reserve, St Abbs is a centre for diving, while the majestic cliffs at St Abbs Head (Photograph right) boast the largest seabird colony on the British mainland. The area is ideal for walking and cycling while swimming, golf, quad biking and boat trips are all available locally. There is a wealth of castles and stately homes to visit for those interested in history. Some, such as Lindisfarne and Bamburgh, can be combined with quiet, sandy beaches, while as a further inducement for reluctant children, Alnwick Castle (43 miles) featured as Hogwarts in the recent Harry Potter films!

Heating is by electricity (£15 included). Bed linen and towels are included. We regret no smokers or pets.
