Edgerston Rig Cottage,
near Jedburgh,
Roxburghshire
Betten 4
Edgerston Rig Cottage is a delightfully situated traditional old stone cottage (enlarged, and modernised tastefully, in 1979 - retaining its character with some period furniture) - which is tucked away very privately in the Cheviot Hills within 320 acres of farm and woodlands by the River Jed just north of the English Border at Carter Bar and about 8 miles south of Jedburgh.
Easily accessible from both the north and south by a half-mile farm track from the A68 road, it is well-placed for visiting all of the Scottish Border country and Edinburgh as well as The Northumberland National Park, Kielder Dam, and the lovely sandy beaches along the coast.
If tired of driving, adults can relax and appreciate the lovely views while watching their children enjoy the space and freedom; walk for miles in the rolling hills, or fish the River Jed or a well-stocked trout pond which is 10 minutes from the cottage (permits can be obtained).
Heating is by log-fire and electricity (logs
included). Bed-linen and towels available for hire. Pets are welcome.
