Highland Chancel
Braemar
Royal Deeside

Betten 2

Highland Chancel, in common with its counterpart Highland Aisle, is a sublimely comfortable hideaway apartment in a converted church on the edge of the pretty Highland village of Braemar in Royal Deeside. In a tranquil and leafy setting, with the river rushing by at the end of the shared garden/grounds, it is a perfect spot for unwinding or for exploring this most popular and beautiful area of Scotland.

The house from above The apartment is a real gem and full of character. Well heated and double glazed, it is ideal for two. The African silk bed hangings, the dressing room, an en suite shower room and further bathroom add to the sense of luxury.

This, then, is no ordinary apartment, and the family pictures on the walls are also far from ordinary. Among them you may recognize the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Josef, who is great-great grandfather to the owner's family!

Braemar is right in the centre of some of the most stunning mountain scenery that Scotland has to offer. You can walk out into the mountains more or less straight from the apartment, or cycle forestry tracks along the Dee to the spectacular Linn of Dee at the head of the valley. (The really adventurous can continue through the mountains to Blair Atholl, but that is really a two day excursion. Much more sensible to return to the comfort of Highland Chancel.) The Dee is a legendary fishing river, there is a most pleasant golf course on the edge of the village, and of course, in winter there is ski-ing at Glenshee, just 10 miles or so down the road, or at the Lecht, less than an hour's drive in the other direction. In the autumn, during the rutting season, the surrounding countryside resonates to the 'troat' of stags, which is something quite special to hear.

The area also has no lack of historical attractions, including the Queen's summer residence at Balmoral and other National Trust properties to the east. A drive over the highest road in Scotland, from Cockbridge to Tomintoul, will bring you swiftly to the Whisky Trail, and beyond that to the fine beaches and quaint fishing villages of the Moray coast.

Braemar has shops, pubs and hotels and a couple of excellent restaurants, as well as a helpful tourist information centre, all within a couple of minute's walk of Highland Chancel.

Bed linen, towels, and £10 electricity are all included!included. Sorry, no pets and smoking is not permitted within the apartment. If booked in conjunction with Highland Aisle, a 10% discount applies.
